JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The Jacksonville Journey is about to turn the corner and fight violent crime by focusing on the basics.

Mayor John Peyton unveiled the plan to fight crime on the First Coast last month.

Thursday afternoon, Mayor John Peyton was joined by Tony Boselli. They stressed the importance of improving street lighting and sidewalks in neighborhoods plagued by violence.

Boselli is heading the neighborhood safety and stability committee.

The former Jaguar says "there are a lot of good people held hostage" in the neighborhoods.

Right now nearly 140 business and civic leaders are exploring solutions. The mayor wants to see a game plan within 100 days.
